Admittedly I was not sure what to expect at this event.  Over 450 people (mostly non-Rotarians) came to the National Motorcycle Museum to have a great time (and they certainly did). One lucky person went away with £1000 and several others won great raffle prizes.

The venue put on a good meal and several presentations were made by the club, one to a local school and £2500 to our Thanks for Life campaign. This was a combination from the club and Solihull School where the pupils had paid money to charity instead of sending lots of Christmas cards. I did manage to climb into the boxing ring in my long dress to receive the cheque  (the challenge was more standing in the ring as the surface was very springy!).

The boxing was great and I have to say I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed it. A group of young amateur boxers had come up from London to fight against a group from the West Midlands. We watched 7 bouts in all.

Well done to the Solihull St. Alphege Rotary Club for an excellent evening. I appreciate that so much effort went into the preparation of it and special mention must be made to John who compered the whole evening without a break. Over £9000 was raised which in the present economic climate was stunning and what was even better was that the vast majority of it came from non Rotarians.
